ROMPA Infinity and Beyond Panel review

In this review of the Rompa Infinity and Beyond Panel we will explore everything you need to know about this awesome infinity mirror. This mirror will help with your child’s sense of sight (ophthalmoception), their sense of hearing (audioception), their hand-eye coordination and anticipation.

We recently bought this infinity mirror for our son for Christmas, we used to have a cheap small hand made one but it kept breaking so we decided to go for one that would last a very long time, and i think it will, this thing is built like a tank, it will probably last longer than me!

Its very large and can either be screwed to the wall using mirror plates or can be mounted to a wheeled ROMPA porter if your child has trouble getting close to the wall, if you want the porter a single panel one can be bought here, or a double panel one can be bought here in case you decide you want more wall panels in the future or already have one.

This is what it looks like when its off:

It looks amazing! This is just the first setting too, there are 49 settings in all, all with different patterns and colours, I love playing with this, my son lays down in front of it and presses all the buttons and falls asleep to the sounds and lights sometimes!

Looking into the lights is mesmerising, it’s like looking into a bottomless pit of lights!

This infinity mirror can also be used with the 8 Colour WIFI Controller from here. The WIFI controller works out of the box, no setup at all! You can read our review on the wifi controller here.

Here is a video of every sound and function this infinity mirror can do, including controlling it with the WIFI switch right at the end, enjoy!

As you can see, the red button changes the light colours and patterns, it has 49 of these patterns. The green button changes the speed. The blue button pauses the lights, and the yellow button makes sounds. All of the buttons are big and easy to press, they are also very easy to see for children with visual impairments.

I would highly recommend this infinity mirror if you have the money, we’ve been saving up for about a year for it and it is well worth the wait and well worth the money. Our son is very happy with it, and like most parents we would do anything to keep our child happy and help them live fulfilling lives, no matter what disability they have.

If you would like to buy one, you can find it HERE.

We saved a lot of money by filling in the VAT relief form when going through the checkout, which your child is valid for if they are disabled, if you need more information on this, click here.

There are also charities that may be able to help you afford this sort of thing for your disabled child, such as the Newlife charity.

ROMPA Maxi Bubble Tube review

In this review of the ROMPA Maxi Bubble Tube we will explore everything about what I think is the best and most reliable bubble tube you can buy.

I will start off with a bit of back-story, when our son was first diagnosed with autism my husband and I agreed that he would need a sensory room, I myself am autistic, so I already knew what an autistic child’s sensory needs would be.

Long before we bought this excellent ROMPA bubble tube, one of the first things we bought for our son’s sensory room was a cheap bubble tube (I apologise, I cannot disclose the name of the seller or manufacturer of said bubble tube due to legal threats against us). We built up our sensory room around the cheap bubble tube assuming it was a quality item. After four months the cheap bubble tube started to leak! It had ruined about half of the special needs toys and equipment we had saved up for years for. Both my son and I had multiple meltdowns over weeks while my husband tried to obtain a refund and compensation while helping us deal with our meltdowns, eventually after around three months of much discordance and obtaining legal information from solicitors, the aforementioned seller and manufacturer paid out. I could write a book with the amount of excuses and lies they gave my husband during this time, but I wont go into that here as I want to move on to ROMPA’s amazing bubble tube and service.

My husband and I agreed that if we were to get another bubble tube, we would have to go for a quality retailer and manufacturer, we already knew a lot about ROMPA and had always wanted ROMPA equipment in our child’s sensory room, we thought things were a bit expensive at first, but trust me, you get what you pay for! We put the money that was refunded to us and saved up for months and finally bought the ROMPA maxi bubble tube, we went for the 2 metre one, because why not? We saved a lot of money by filling in the VAT relief form when going through the checkout, which your child is valid for if they are disabled, if you need more information on this, click here. There are also charities that may be able to help you afford this sort of thing for your disabled child, such as the Newlife charity.

When the bubble tube arrived it was already set up, no messing about with tubes and ties, it just came in one piece. We just put it in place, filled it with water, put the lid on, and turned it on, simple, just the way it should be.

This thing is tall, our son loves it, he hugs it every night watching the bubbles, plastic fish and cubes during his sensory time before bed.

The bubbles are nice and big and there are millions of them, when they start, the plastic fish and cubes bob up and down through the bubble tube weaving in and out of the bubbles. You can get the fish from here and the cubes from here.

It has a nice low pitched hum sound when its turned on, our son likes to mimic the sound.

The colours are very vivid and bright, perfect for children with special needs to help visual processing and colour recognition.

Speaking of colours, the bubble tube changes to many different colours, but we didn’t realise we could interact with it until I read more about ROMPA’s WIFI switches, we saved up for one and bought it (this one) but recently have upgraded to this one. We also got this cool talking WIFI cube here which also changes the colour of the bubble tube. the switches work with all our WIFI enabled ROMPA equipment. You can read our review of the ROMPA Deluxe 8 Colour Wirefree Controller here.

When the WIFI switch arrived it just worked, no setup, we literally opened the box, pressed a button, and the bubble tube changed colour! You don’t need any computer experience, it just works, here is a video we took of the different colours and the bubbles stopping and starting using the WIFI switch:

We have had the ROMPA maxi bubble tube for about 18 months now and its been perfect. No faults, no leaks, no problems, just what you’d expect from the makers of equipment for people with special needs.

We empty it once every 4 months to add fresher water, and in between that window of time we keep the water clean using BCB, which you can also get from ROMPA here.

Its really easy to empty too, just attach the drainage pipe that comes with the bubble tube, put the other end of the pipe in the sink, and turn the valve ….. that’s it!

If you have the money, I highly recommend this bubble tube. Our son has been so happy with his ROMPA equipment, as long as ROMPA keep pumping out quality equipment and keep up their fantastic customer service, I’ll keep buying.

If you want to buy it, click HERE.

We are not affiliated with ROMPA, we are just very happy customers.

Gonge Mono Trampoline Review

There are many children’s trampolines around, from big to small, but not many are specifically designed for children with special needs.

Gonge has filled that void with the Gonge Mono Trampoline.

Around two years ago my husband and I were told our autistic son has weak muscles in his legs and needs to exercise his legs to build up muscle mass. We were told that a great way to do this was to buy a trampoline.

We thought of getting one of those big garden ones with the net, but as I am in a wheelchair I cannot get out into the garden to watch him play and supervise him. My husband has to look after both of us at the same time and I didn’t want him rushing back and forth in and out of the house to make sure were both OK, we obviously needed an indoor trampoline, preferably one with a handle as our son’s balance is very poor.

As some of you parents may have experienced, when you were a child and your parents got you your first trampoline, it was probably a cheap one that was flimsy and very unstable, and some of us even jumped a bit too hard, went forward over the top of the handle and landed flat on our face with the trampoline on top of us! We obviously didn’t want that to happen to our son, we needed something more stable.

I looked on the internet for a suitable trampoline, eventually I found the Gonge Mono Trampoline on Spacekraft‘s website. It has way more padding than a normal trampoline, the padding is sloped so if a child falls over they slide right back into the middle, the handle is completely covered in soft foam, It can hold a lot more weight and is made out of steel! We wanted a trampoline with a round base and heavy enough not to tip over when the child is jumping super high. Perfectly safe for a child with autism and resilient enough for a child who has the occasional meltdown. So we saved up for a few months and bought it.

The handle is removable, when it is attached, it has a slight flex to it, with a lot of strength you can pull it back 1-2cm and it will bounce right back into place, this handle is made out of steel and is very tough. It is also very safe as it is covered in black foam, as can see in the video, it can endure a lot of abuse yet is still safe.

The jumping mat is quite thick and is made of a weaved fabric, it is attached to the welded steel frame by using steel springs, these are completely covered by the round yellow foam cushion. The specifications state that it can hold upto 50KG but it is tough enough that my 76KG husband can jump on the trampoline! Silly man.

I would highly recommend this trampoline as it has served us well for almost 2 years. It’s easy to assemble, solid, safe and looks great! I’m sure it will last us a very long time.

Spacekraft don’t seem to sell this trampoline anymore, but kiddicare do. Click Here to go straight to the product page.
