Gonge Mono Trampoline Review

There are many children’s trampolines around, from big to small, but not many are specifically designed for children with special needs.

Gonge has filled that void with the Gonge Mono Trampoline.

Around two years ago my husband and I were told our autistic son has weak muscles in his legs and needs to exercise his legs to build up muscle mass. We were told that a great way to do this was to buy a trampoline.

We thought of getting one of those big garden ones with the net, but as I am in a wheelchair I cannot get out into the garden to watch him play and supervise him. My husband has to look after both of us at the same time and I didn’t want him rushing back and forth in and out of the house to make sure were both OK, we obviously needed an indoor trampoline, preferably one with a handle as our son’s balance is very poor.

As some of you parents may have experienced, when you were a child and your parents got you your first trampoline, it was probably a cheap one that was flimsy and very unstable, and some of us even jumped a bit too hard, went forward over the top of the handle and landed flat on our face with the trampoline on top of us! We obviously didn’t want that to happen to our son, we needed something more stable.

I looked on the internet for a suitable trampoline, eventually I found the Gonge Mono Trampoline on Spacekraft‘s website. It has way more padding than a normal trampoline, the padding is sloped so if a child falls over they slide right back into the middle, the handle is completely covered in soft foam, It can hold a lot more weight and is made out of steel! We wanted a trampoline with a round base and heavy enough not to tip over when the child is jumping super high. Perfectly safe for a child with autism and resilient enough for a child who has the occasional meltdown. So we saved up for a few months and bought it.

The handle is removable, when it is attached, it has a slight flex to it, with a lot of strength you can pull it back 1-2cm and it will bounce right back into place, this handle is made out of steel and is very tough. It is also very safe as it is covered in black foam, as can see in the video, it can endure a lot of abuse yet is still safe.

The jumping mat is quite thick and is made of a weaved fabric, it is attached to the welded steel frame by using steel springs, these are completely covered by the round yellow foam cushion. The specifications state that it can hold upto 50KG but it is tough enough that my 76KG husband can jump on the trampoline! Silly man.

I would highly recommend this trampoline as it has served us well for almost 2 years. It’s easy to assemble, solid, safe and looks great! I’m sure it will last us a very long time.

Spacekraft don’t seem to sell this trampoline anymore, but kiddicare do. Click Here to go straight to the product page.
